Frequently defined as a head injury with a temporary loss of brain function, concussion can cause a variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms. Traditionally, concussion refers to an immediate and transient loss of consciousness (< 30min) accompanied by a brief period of amnesia (< 24hr) after a blow to the head.

Grade I:Confusion, symptoms last <15 minutes, no loss of consciousness.
Grade II:Symptoms last >15 minutes, no loss of consciousness
Grade III: Loss of consciousness (IIIa, coma lasts seconds, IIIb for minutes)
